MADISON, Wis. -- An Illinois woman is suing her Wisconsin parents for maintaining an icy driveway that she blamed for a fall that broke her ankle two winters ago.

This week, a federal judge refused to toss out the lawsuit, setting up a trial for November.

Carriel Louah, 25, visited Darlington, Wis., to surprise her mother on her birthday in January 2005. But the next morning, she was injured when she slipped and fell on her parents' driveway. She filed suit against her parents earlier this year.

The daughter said that a letter from her mom apologizing months after the fall proves that her parents knew they had a defective gutter for years and did nothing about it.

She's seeking more than $75,000 in damages for medical bills and lost wages.

Her parents said that she can't prove the driveway was icy at the time or that their drainage system was faulty.

U.S. District Judge John Shabaz said that a jury should decide the matter.

3 words that really wrap this one up. Jeff you get a woot for that one. But why Only in America? Is it because people want too much nowadays? YES! You see it everywere People getting pissed cause their 15 minute oil change has taken 16.5 minutes. Honking thier horns at people who are trying to get over but are blocked and getting so rediculously pissed off that they could have an enruism right were they sit in thier car filled with mcdonalds wrappers and cigarette butts, but are only in a hurry to get to the stop light 50 feet in front of thier vehicle. Only in America is right. Home of the rude, But land of the free home of the brave. Almost everyone acts like this. Especialy the 30-60 year old crowd, You can almost sum this behavior up by calling Generic or default standards of how to live, act, and behave in public. Anytihng else would be considered abnormal or weird.

was it really nessicary to sue her parents.  if they were good parents, they would probably pay for some of it anyway. At least i dont have to worry about slipping on an icey driveway (FLORIDA  :harhar: )
