Anyone else planning on buying Warhammer: Age of Reckoning?

I'm in the closed beta, and have already pre-ordered.

You heard wrong... sorta.

They did cut 4 classes out... from 24.  So there are only 20 classes left to choose from.  /sigh

And they did remove 4 cities... kind of.

WAR is a Realm vs. Realm MMORPG.  The original 6 "cities" were going to be the culmination of the clash between Order and Destruction.  The cities have now been replaced by "fortresses", which after taking 2 of the 3 opposing faction's fortresses, opens the opposing faction's single major city.

I think this may actually help the PvP in WAR.  Instead of having the entire realm spread out across 3 major cities, the entire server's focus is entirely in one zone... bringing massive battles to take/defend the city.

So, yeah, they did cut some content.  However, how can you cut something that you never had to begin with?  WAR will be what it is, even with those changes.

I waited over a year for my invite... there are only around 32k people in the closed beta.  Over 800k have applied.  Still worth it!

Did you order the SE or the CE?  And I'll be rolling Destruction, probably a Black Orc.  I'll post what server I plan on rolling on when the Head Start begins.

Honestly, I can't wait to try Tier IV RvR to see what the classes are like at the higher levels.  That will probably finalize what class I'll roll for the head start as my main.

The open beta begins on September 7th. 

I've got a couple of RL friends I game with that are going to play, and hopefully several more as release gets closer (including some old skool LcT folks like Skyy and ArabianGoggles).

I'll post up what server we (my 2 RL buddies and I) roll on and character names tomorrow when the Preview Weekend starts, if anyone is interested.

The game is a lot of fun.  They took some great ideas from successful games like WoW, included pvp as a staple of the game and designed around it like DAoC, threw in some revolutionary new ideas and created a very nice product.  It's not perfect in terms of mechanics, there are some things that I would have done differently - but in all honesty I really haven't used those tools enough to determine if they really are teh suck.

Just so that I understand.Does WaR has a storyline?
Is the gameplay similar to WoW in the sense that you can do quests and such,or is it straight PVP?

And tomorrow I am going to reserve the game,so I will also be in the open beta :D
By the way,I am assuming that the game which will be sold starting on the 16th will also come with 30 days free trial :D

it is for all curent beta participants, colectors edition pre orders, and the first 50k standard edition to register their codes (about a week ago). it's just a little time in game before OB starts on the 7th of next month. OB will be for all preorders and curent beta participants.

And so the game we get on pre-order(buy on september 16th) is the full online game.And that means that once the beta is over,all characters will be deleted,correct?

if you can run wow on med-high, you can run war. as for character wipes, im not sure how preview weekend will cary into OB but OB will be wiped pryor to head start (the 3-4 days before release that all pre orders get to play) and characters made in head start WILL cary into live. also there is a rather large gap between preview weekend and OB, preview weekend is just that, a weekend, this friday-monday then idk if it's more CB or all servers down untill OB on 7th

I have problems logging for patching.
Basically it doesn't recognize my password.
I have tried changing the pass and such,but nothing
and now it tells me there is a communication error or something

I was in the closed beta, which put me in the preview weekend.  All Collector's Edition pre-orders were sent an invitation to the preview weekend also.  I read that there were 50,000 standard edition pre-orders that were invited as well.

Overall, lots of fun.

I've also been working on a side project with my two buddies, Bear and Rix.  We're putting together a weekly podcast about WAR and have produced around 5 episodes thus far.  We've only release parts of one show, as the first several were really trial runs as we learned the ropes of creating a broadcast.

The website is waaaghradio.com so check it out.  We've got a test site up in the background.  We haven't moved it to the front page of the domain yet, but that is coming in the next few days.  Our next episode will be recorded the weekend the open beta starts, which is on September 7th.

We're actually hoping that WaaaghRadio.com will lead to a source of revenue, so we'll likely keep it as its own entity.  We are, however, always scouting for talent to produce other podcasts for this online radio station of sorts.

Woot! Mythik anounced a second PW for those involved in the first one prior to this sunday's OB. if you were in the first one, you will be able to log on again tomorow morning. Skull Throne again anyone? that's where i'll be at least. (characters from last PW will not be available to my understanding, servers have been wiped.

btw, if it's your first time playing, give it a few hours before giving up. i've had several friends play it and refuse to play it again because the begining is so bad, especialy the elf area, but it gets MUCH better.

I am going to go to the Crade server as soon as the game updates and I am stopping my WoW subscription

So I created a character,but I am unable to play.I am like crashing non-stop.And no errors.

wierd, if it was a ctd it wasn't the server...idk man, mine has only crahsed once...ever...

From what I've read, the CTDs are happening to a very small portion of the population.  It appears to be a video card issue.  Have you tweaked any of the video settings from the default?  If so, reset them and that should work for you.  You may have to do this through your config and not in-game if you keep crashing on login.

A couple of my friends had CTD issues earlier in the beta (before PW1), but one upgraded his video card and has yet to have another CTD and the other hasn't had one since the patch after PW1.  I've never had a CTD in my beta experience.

You don't get good pvp action like DAoC until Tier II and keep sieges.

You're right, but how far can you really stray from the tank, healer, and dps (ranged and melee) archetype?

for working within the necesary MMO class molds, it think they have some fairly unique classes.

Healer that stabs people and uses their soul to heal
Healer that casts faster by damaging and vise versa
tanks that can anctualy controll people in PvP
ranged and mele pet classes ranged having multiple and disposable pets
ranged nukers that can trade the risk of killing themselves to hit like a semi falling on your head
turet style pet classes

but idk, to each their own i guess

Well,when I created my character I couldn't choose the Crede server,so I went to Abhorea or whatever the server name is.Which server is everyone else on?

I'm on Crag Mere, and yes you can change servers, but if you meant character transfers, no you can't. if you want to play on another just hit servers and pick one.

The little I have played it sure looks similar to WoW.However I wouldn't be against LcT having an Warhammer guild
